Ayada Maldives Gaafu atoll

Our Opinion
Located in the Southerly Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, requiring a 50 minute domestic flight and then a similar duration on a speedboat to get to, Ayada is a new resort with five star deluxe aspirations.

Ayada represents a new venture for Turkish construction conglomerate Aydeniz, and it’s clear that the resort has been generously financed. The ‘hardware’ is all very impressive: large, well-designed rooms (all with pools), beautiful restaurant settings, state-of-the-art leisure facilities, a fleet of buggies to chauffeur you around the highly manicured gardens.

However, perhaps due to a lack of experience in the sector, there is a sense that the management of the property hasn’t yet quite gelled together, and we found service and dining a little inconsistent. The resort has also been heavily sold into the Asian market from opening, which means that currently the guest profile is predominantly Chinese.

With strong management to tackle the teething problems, and with a better balance of clientele nationality, Ayada has the potential to be a top resort, and we’ll be back to visit in due course.

    Summary
Opened in 2012, Ayada Maldives is a new luxury resort situated on the picturesque island of Magudhuva within the southern rim of the Gaafu Dhaalu atoll, reached by domestic flight and speedboat from Male international airport.

It is located on a North-South elongated reef lodged between the Gazeera Reef and the Boduhutta Reef. The resort's unique location near one of the best surf breaks in the Maldives and within the central region of the reef means it is surrounded by long stretches of white sandy beaches and a crystal clear, shallow lagoon; an ideal setting to enjoy the uninterrupted ocean views or to discover the abundant marine life. Proximity to the southern tail of the reef, and the fact that the atoll is believed to be one of the largest and deepest natural atolls in the world, make this an ideal destination for diving, snorkelling and surfing enthusiasts.

Guests preferring to remain nestled within the lush vegetation of the island can can enjoy a variety of dining experiences in the seven restaurants or unwind with a rejuvenating treatment in the 3500sqm AySpa & Health Club.

Those who are after adventures in and on the ocean need look no further than the renowned dive and watersports centre.
